Work with Parts and Crafts this Summer

Work with Parts and Crafts this summer!

Parts and Crafts is a kid-directed, makerspace-based tinkering camp for kids aged 7-13. This summer, for the first time, we are located at the Kennedy School in Somerville. We’re looking for people who love to work with kids and have a passion in any or all of the following: computer programming, electronics projects, role playing games, magic the gathering, boffer sword fighting, jewelry-making, cardboard construction, puzzles, table top gaming, 3D printing, sewing and fiber arts, cooking, music and creative play.

Each day camp staffers offer kids a bunch of choices based on our interests and theirs - kids can also choose to organize their own activity and camp staffers frequently just follow their lead. We spend the day making stuff, taking stuff apart and playing until it’s time to clean up and go home.

The ideal candidate for this position will have some experience with elementary school-aged children and enough interest and knowledge in one of the above areas to be able to lead projects with groups of kids. A passion for learning new skills and techniques is essential.

The core day runs for 8:45 to 3pm, with time for a brief meeting until around 3:30. Pay is $18 an hour. Additional hours are available supervising early and late drop off. A homemade lunch is provided every day.

We are running 6 weeks of camp from June 27th through August 5th. You can find out more about our weekly themes here.

To apply:

Please send a brief email introduction describing the last thing you taught yourself how to make and a resume to contact@partsandcrafts.org with the subject line: Camp Jobs.
