Art, Music & Making at Parts and Crafts this Fall

We're offering a lot of art options, both virtually and in-person. Check out all of our programs here.

Karaoke Mondays 10am - 12pm Come prepared with a song to sing, or we’ll help you pick one out. You can do karaoke or play any instruments you have at your home. If you want to work on it, Cora has several decades of experience with many kinds of vocal performance and can help individually workshop ideas.

Improv Drawing and Comics Monday 1pm - 3pm Drawing games, 1-minute character drawings, comics, zines, story creation and more

Music Making Tuesday 1pm-3pm Aleatoric Music (or chance music in Latin) involves creating music from ordinary sounds—hum, bang on things around your room, make your own instrument….any sound can become a part of the song! What is your soundtrack?

Cardboard Model & Sculpture Making with Mike Tuesday 1pm - 3pm Create amazing realistic/artistic models and sculptures from cardboard and other recycled materials. Project ideas will be introduced as concepts with lots of room for improvising.

Where the Wild Things Draw Wednesday 10am - 12pm Discover the wild of nature through drawing. Each week, we will draw a variety of wild animals and creatures from around the world both living and extinct. As we draw, we will learn about each wild animal, it’s habitat and behavior through discussions, short selected pictures and videos I will share with you online.

Making Miniature Food with Polymer Clay Friday 10am - 12pm Let's make miniature food with polymer clay!  Each week we'll sculpt a different type of food in one inch scale out of polymer clay to use in dollhouse scenes or as charms or jewelry.

Drawing Club with Mike 1pm - 3pm We will explore the joy of drawing in a wide variety of ways including character drawing, one line contour drawing, "zentangles" and more.  All skill levels welcome.

Art in Plein Air at the Growing Center Mondays 10-12pm and Mondays 1-3pm Spend your Monday mornings in a lovely urban garden setting where we will use nature’s inspiration to sharpen our skills of observation and drawing outside. This class is in person and outdoors. This class meets at the location. More info will be sent upon registration.

Booking Binding at 577 Thursday 10am - 12pm Book Binding (In Person at 577) - Learn to make your own journal or sketch book! We will learn at least 2 techniques for making high-quality actually-usable books. The first is an 8.5 x 5.5" sewn-and-glued fairly standard bound book, much like a hardcover you would get at the store. The second is a more advanced style, often called a "coptic" stitch binding, that requires a bit more dexterity and uses a curved needle rather than a straight needle. All materials provided, but if kids have pictures from magazines or stickers, or cool paper, or anything else they might want to add, they can certainly bring them in!  Masks & social distancing required. We'll provide hand sanitizer.
